#HearingFactFriday: Moderate-noise work settings cause more hearing issues than loud

We’ve written before about how hearing loss is America’s most common workplace injury – but did you know that the workers who suffer the most from hearing loss aren’t those who work in the loudest environments? Instead, it’s workers who work in jobs with moderate noise levels.

That’s because workers on construction sites, in airports, industrial settings and other high-noise places typically wear hearing protection, while those in less-noisy settings don’t. Makes sense when you think about it.

If the noise levels at your work consistently exceed 85 dB, you should always wear hearing protection. Our SoundCheck app for iPhone and Android lets you measure the decibel level in any environment you’re in. Download it on iTunes or Google Play.

And if you think you have work-related hearing loss, a visit to a local hearing professional is recommended. Find one easily by calling 1-888-908-1845 or clicking here.
