#HearingFactFriday: Birds are lucky in at least two ways

Hey, it’s Memorial Day weekend, the official kick-off of summer! (When you live in Minnesota, summer is a big deal.) So we thought today’s Hearing Fact Friday shouldn’t work too hard; that it should gently roll us into the three-day weekend and summer to come.

Turns out the reason birds can’t permanently lose their hearing is because the “sensory hair cells in the inner ear essential for hearing simply grow back” if damaged. Unlike ours, which don’t.

Lucky them. Oh yeah, and they can fly. That’s pretty cool, too.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. And may your 2019 summer be your best summer yet!
