#HearingFactFriday: Over half a billion people under 65 have hearing loss

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 15% of the world’s adult population has some degree of hearing loss — but only 25% of those approximately 750 million adults are over 65.

That leaves over half a billion adults under 65 with hearing loss. No wonder hearing loss is the third most common physical condition affecting adults, after arthritis and heart disease.

The WHO does go on to note that public health measures “can effectively reduce hearing loss” and that “the majority of cases can be treated through early diagnosis and proven interventions.”

You can get that early diagnosis and learn about proven interventions by finding a trusted hearing professional who can become your ally for better hearing. To find one in your area, click here.
