EU Data Act Notice for Hearing Aids

The European Union (EU) Data Act enables users of connected products and related services to access the data that they co-create by using the connected products/related services. This notice provides information about use of this data and the availability of data under the Data Act.

Hearing Aid Data

  • What it is: Information about the operation and configuration of your hearing aids. For example, we store information about device configuration, usage, and interactions such as volume adjustments. We may also store location information, if you have enabled location features through your mobile phone.
  • Why we collect it: To optimize and personalize your hearing experience.

Health and Wellness Data

  • What it is: Activity data and other data generated by the hearing aid to support health and wellness monitoring (e.g., raw sensor data, such as motion sensor data to determine activity or fall detection), and data shared with caregivers designated by you.
  • Why we collect it: To help you and the caregivers you have chosen to monitor your well-being and provide better support.

How to Access or Share Your Data

If you bought your device in the European Union on or after September 12, 2025, you can request access to your device data or ask us to share it with someone else by contacting us at:

Scope of Device Data

We can provide device data as required by the EU Data Act. Some types of data are not available. For example, in accordance with the EU Data Act, we cannot supply data related to the integrity and security of the services or data that would compromise intellectual property rights or trade secrets.

Use of Device Data for Sound Quality, Health and Wellness, and Research and Development at Starkey

Starkey uses information about the operation and usage of our hearing aids and related devices to deliver enhanced sound quality, provide health & wellness monitoring, and support ongoing research and development at Starkey to improve our products and develop new features for ear-worn products, smartphone applications, accessories, and related software and technology. In some cases, hearing or health-related insights and analytics (e.g., trends, alerts, predictions) may be derived from data generated using Starkey’s proprietary technologies. The data, insights, and analytics are used to deliver or enhance Starkey product features, and to develop new features and technology.
