#HearingFactFriday: Too many people put off getting help for hearing loss

If you had trouble seeing, you would go to a doctor or optometrist and discuss it with them, right? How about a toothache? Wouldn’t you go see a dentist? Or say your knee has been barking at you for an extended period of time — you’d want to get it checked out, yes?

Yet for some reason, when we have trouble hearing, over half of us don’t bother bringing it to the attention of a healthcare professional for, well, a really long time, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

What’s up with that?

Maybe once upon a time that made sense. But today, with all we know about hearing loss being linked to increased risk of falls, social isolation, dementia, higher medical costs and more, it is wise to stay on top of any hearing loss.

Plus, the most common treatment for hearing loss — hearing aids — are leaps and bounds more effective than they were just several years ago.

Don’t wait any longer — do something about your hearing loss starting today. Call 1-888-908-1845 or click here and we can help you find a local hearing healthcare professional you can talk to.
