#HearingFactFriday: Smoking increases your risk for hearing loss

Need another reason not to smoke? Probably not. But if you do, this Hearing Fact Friday — pulled from a March 2018 Consumer Reports article — provides one.

It’s from a recent study in Japan, which followed more than 50,000 adults (who had no hearing loss) for eight years. During that time, the adults who smoked developed high-frequency hearing loss at nearly twice the rate of non-smokers.

It’s just one more data point on the heap of data points against smoking.
